Ares Mythic Heroes is not just one of the most resilient heroes in the game, but also deals a lot of đamage in front of him. The problem is, that this is all he does. While his kit is very strong đuring the early- to mid-game, he later encounters the problem of not interacting with his team in any meaningful way. He has no buffs for his team, and no real debuffs for the enemies. While he is one of the most annoying heroes to kill in PvE, the damage output in PvP is way higher, rendering him basically useless in the late-game.
His damage output from Simple Lethality, Austere Swing and Common Tactics should not be underestimated, though. Even if Ares is a tank, bis abilities let him đeal way more damage than you might expect, sometimes resulting in sudden one-hit kills.

Counterplay Ares Mythic Heroes
- For PvE, the counter is to use anti-heals against him
- The best heroes for that are Circe and Hades, but the others mentioned above might also work
- For PvP, try not to let Ares use Simple Lethality
- To do that, kill him as quickly as possible
- If you cannot, put a resilient tank in front of him, so his damage output is not as destructive, and kill him when his team is dead
