Notes

A shapeshifting Morrigan loves to sow discord. In fact, it would be difficult to find a better definition of a troublemaker… She foments a war in the same way a conductor instructs an orchestra, and indeed she prefers the din of war to any musical masterpiece.

This Hero is a good support. She buffs her team, heal and revive a team and debuffs enemies.

Bio

“The ravens that circle the battlefield are the incarnations of Morrigan, and their hoarse cry is the mourning call of those who have died.”

Morrigan is the Goddess of War, Prophecy, and Death in the Tuatha De pantheon. During a war, she arrives either as one of the ravens or wearing her red cloak. When there, she will sit upon a stump or stone to watch the conflict gleefully. She loves the raw passion of the battlefield and often takes the form of raven to watch from the sky. Her raven form is one of many potential forms she can take, which was made obvious in her encounter with Cu Chulainn.

It all began when Cu Chulainn stopped an invading army on a bridge, invoking the privilege of challenging each one to single combat. He held the bridge for many days, and Morrigan fawned over his bravery and skill. She approached him and tried to take what she wanted… Surprisingly though, Cu Chulainn was singularly focused on his goal and spurned her advances. She felt insulted and immediately began to plot her revenge. The next day at the bridge, he was fighting in the water, and she turned herself into a giant eel to bite him. Cu Chulainn reacted decisively and stabbed the creature in its side with his spear. She then turned herself into a giant wolf and chased an entire herd of cattle towards the champion. Cu Chulainn was wise to what was happening and took his slingshot and hit the giant wolf in the eye, blinding it. When this happened, Morrigan then immediately turned herself into a cow at the front of the stampede to run him over. He managed to avoid her charge, and hit her leg with a stone, breaking it.

After these rebuffs, Morrigan changed her approach. She appeared as an old woman and asked for Cu Chulainn’s blessing. He, distracted by many other issues, blessed the old woman with a bad eye and broken leg, healing her injuries. He then saw another old woman cleaning bloodied armor, a horrible omen. Knowing well the foreboding of this sign, Cu Chulainn swallowed hard but once again headed to battle. However, early in the day he was mortally injured by a thrown spear. With the last of his strength, he tied himself to a boulder to stay upright. When he did, a raven landed on his shoulder… This raven seemed different to everyone, and the troops knew it was Morrigan protecting her quarry. Now understanding everything, Cu Chulainn died with a knowing smirk on his face. Morrigan was both happy and sad; she had her revenge but still loved the brave mortal.
